Lesson 4 - Discussion Lists and Conferences
Objectives
  1. Subscribe to and participate in the class discussion list and locate and subscribe to a professional list.
  2. Devise an action plan for the implementation of curricular-based email and/or conferencing activities in your classroom setting.


Lesson 4
Activities

  1. Subscribe to the class discussion list and use that forum as a vehicle to discuss issues related to the course. Send a brief bio to the list, introducing yourself to other list members.  After two weeks, use the list commands to obtain information about the list and its members.
  2. Locate a professional list related to your teaching responsibilities and subscribe to the list. Send the confirmation of your subscription to your instructor. After a period of passive observance, pose a question or comment to the list, if you feel it is appropriate to do so.
  3. Read selected articles from Module 2.
  4. Devise an action plan for the implementation of curricular-based email and/or conferencing activities for your classroom setting. Use the Action Plan Template as a guideline. Email a draft of your plan to 2 or 3 other class members for feedback. Modify your plan and send the revised version to your instructor as an attachment via email.
  5. Engage in dialog about the Topic of the Week on the class Discussion WebBoard.
  6. Module reflection - Compete the Module 2 Reflection form.
  7. Select a topic for the Staff Development Project. Begin preparation for the presentation.
