Lesson 2
Objectives
- Select, download, and configure a browser.
- Navigate WWW pages with a selected browser.
- Recognize and identify components of a URL.
- Describe computer viruses and how they may spread,
methods for protection, and sources of virus protection software.
- Complete the "Browser Basics Worksheet".
- Read the article on viruses (Virus Alert: How to Avoid Getting One) and decide which protection, if any, one would select for implementation in a classroom/school setting and what type of protection is appropriate for home/personal use. Consider cost, network, and other factors. Compose a one paragraph explanation and justification of your selections. Use Microsoft Word or other text editor that is available in the classroom.
- Bring your completed paragraph to class next week on a disk in either MS Word or RTF format.
- Select websites from the Lessons 1 and 2 Readings and Tutorials List. Be prepared to share a one paragraph synopsis of a selected site.
- Engage in dialog with colleagues on the class Discussion WebBoard.
- Module reflection - Complete the Module 1 Reflection form.
